Interstate 580 opened once again after crash

The California Highway Patrol has once again opened the eastbound Interstate 580 in Oakland Sunday morning after a tragic accident forced the closure of the road for about three hours, an officer reported.

Crews arrived at the scene after receiving calls about a crash between a white sport utility vehicle and gold sedan on eastbound Highway 580 near Dutton Avenue at 6:05 a.m., CHP Officer Eric Anderson stated.

One person died in the accident and another was transported to the hospital with wounds, Anderson reported.

Eastbound traffic was directed away from the road at 106th Street while officers worked to remove the wreckage.

A Sig-alert was canceled at 8:45 a.m.
