New Castle County police are looking into an auto accident that resulted in the hospitalization of a 19-year-old male from Newark.
Investigators said that alcohol is believed to be involved in the incident.
At 2:23 a.m., county police and paramedics arrived at the intersection of Powder Horn Drive and South Gerald Drive, in the development of Fox Chase.
When officers came to the scene they discovered, the driver, said to be 19-year-old Jacob Brown, partially responsive and stuck in his car. Police report that the car had a serious front damage. The teen had to be freed from the constraint of the vehicle by rescue crew members.
He was taken to Christiana Hospital and placed in the intensive care unit with internal injuries and severe head trauma.
Police stated that Brown was headed north on South Gerald Drive when his car veered across the road and slammed into a tree.
Details regarding the crash are yet to be determined. Charges may be issued.
